Brought in my Seiko diver for a seal renewal — it had been opened previously by someone who clearly did not test it afterward. The pressure test result here came back on a written note, which was something I had not seen before. The turnaround was four working days. Nothing fancy, just the work done properly and recorded.

The Valjoux 7750 in my chronograph had been running slow for months and the stopwatch hand was not returning cleanly to zero. Eighteen working days at the bench. When it came back, the function checklist showed every parameter that had been adjusted — reset accuracy, clutch engagement, all of it. I could see what had been done and what the readings were before and after. Response to my initial enquiry was the same day.

Farouk Marzuki
Tanjung Bungah, Penang
I have eleven mechanical pieces and the Collection Care Programme was the first arrangement that made sense for the whole collection rather than handling each watch as a separate crisis. The initial intake took one visit and after that the schedule is set for the year. The bound folder with each reference's history is something I did not expect — it travels with the collection properly.

Tan Wei Liang
Bayan Lepas, Penang
My quartz had gone through two batteries in a year. At Balancewright they checked the circuit before fitting another cell — found the draw was higher than it should be, which explained everything. They told me what the reading was and what it should have been. The cell they fitted has been running normally for two months. Simple problem, but it was the first time anyone had actually looked for the cause.

My father's ETA 2824 dress watch needed a full service. I was concerned about parts availability and whether the work would be subcontracted out. Neither was an issue — the calibre was confirmed as in-scope from the start, and one person handled it throughout. The rate sheet showed the timing readings. Nineteen working days, within the stated window.
Complication Service · July 2025
Ahmad Zulkarnain
Seberang Perai, Penang
The collection and return service from Seberang Perai as part of the programme was handled without any issue. I was not sure if Seberang Perai counted as covered — it does, confirmed before I signed up. The digital record set they provide alongside the bound folder means I have everything accessible when I need to reference a service date or check what parts were fitted in a previous visit.

Three Service Accounts in Detail
Case 01 — Battery & Seal
July 2025
Situation
Client's Casio G-Shock had been battery-replaced twice in fourteen months. The watch was running reliably immediately after each replacement, then draining ahead of schedule. Previous servicing had not checked the circuit between replacements.
Bench Work
Circuit current draw measured before fitting a new cell. Draw was approximately 40% above the movement manufacturer's stated range. The circuit fault was identified and addressed. New gaskets fitted throughout. Dry pressure test carried out. Written note issued recording the current draw reading and test result.
Outcome
Watch returned in five working days. Client confirmed the replacement cell has been operating normally over the following two months. Cost: RM 480, which is the standard battery and seal price — no additional charge for the circuit assessment.
"The two previous replacements cost me more in total than this one visit and actually fixed the problem."
Case 02 — Chronograph Service
July 2025
Situation
Sellita SW500 chronograph presenting with inconsistent pusher feel and a flyback hand that was returning approximately 1–2 seconds off zero on repeated resets. The movement had not been serviced in seven years.
Bench Work
Full disassembly. Complication module separated and serviced independently. Hammer depth and reset-to-zero adjusted and recorded. Clutch engagement and jumper tension set. Base calibre mainspring renewed. Five-position rate adjustment carried out on timing machine. All gaskets replaced. Function cycle tested across twelve resets.
Outcome
Returned in seventeen working days. Rate sheet showed readings across five positions. Function checklist confirmed zero-return within 0.1 seconds across all tested resets. Client confirmed consistent pusher feel. Cost: RM 2,150.
"The function checklist answered every question I had about what had been adjusted."
Case 03 — Collection Care Programme
August 2025
Situation
Small institutional collection of eight mechanical pieces — four Swiss-made movements and four Japanese — with no maintained service history. Pieces had been serviced at different providers over the years, with no centralised record of what had been done or when.
Programme Scope
Initial intake visit covered all eight pieces. Condition notes and available service history entered into the programme record for each reference. Two annual inspection visits scheduled. Gasket renewal applied to three pieces worn near water. Rate checks carried out across the full set on timing machine. Winder settings reviewed.
Outcome
Bound folder and digital record set issued at completion of intake. All eight references now have an open service record. Collection and return from Penang Island included. Annual cost: RM 4,600. Client reported that predictable scheduling removed the previous pattern of reactive, unbudgeted repair costs.
"For the first time, I know exactly what has been done to each piece and when the next visit is due."
