1. Definitions

In these Terms and Conditions, the following terms have the meanings set out below:

2. Acceptance of Terms

By submitting an enquiry through this website, depositing a watch for service, or entering into a Collection Care Programme arrangement, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.

You must be at least 18 years of age and have legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement. If you are acting on behalf of a company or institution, you represent that you have authority to bind that entity to these terms.

3. Service Description and Scope

Balancewright offers three categories of watch repair and servicing:

  1. Battery, Seal and Water Resistance Renewal (RM 480): quartz cell replacement, full gasket renewal, circuit current draw check, and dry pressure test. Turnaround three to five working days.
  2. Chronograph and Complication Service (RM 2,150): full disassembly, independent complication module service, mainspring renewal, gasket replacement, five-position rate adjustment, and written function checklist. Turnaround fourteen to twenty-one working days.
  3. Collection Care Programme (RM 4,600 per year): annual arrangement for six or more mechanical pieces, covering two inspections per piece, gasket renewal, rate checks, collection and return within Penang Island and Seberang Perai, and maintained written records per reference.

Each service covers a defined scope. Any work found to be necessary beyond that scope will be quoted separately and requires the client's written or verbal approval before proceeding. No out-of-scope work will be carried out without prior consent.

Services are available to clients within Malaysia. Collection and return logistics under the Collection Care Programme are available within Penang Island and Seberang Perai. Walk-in visits are available during workshop hours.

4. Client Responsibilities

Clients are responsible for:

5. Intellectual Property

All content on the Balancewright website — text, layout, images and design — is the property of Balancewright or is used with permission. No part of the website may be reproduced, adapted or redistributed without written permission.

Service records and documentation produced by Balancewright (written notes, rate sheets, function checklists, bound folders) are issued to clients for their own use. Reproduction for commercial purposes is not permitted.

6. Payment Terms

All prices are quoted in Malaysian Ringgit (MYR/RM). Prices for each service category are as stated on the website and confirmed at drop-off. Prices may be revised on the website; the price applicable to a confirmed service is the price confirmed at the time of drop-off.

Payment is due on collection of the piece, unless otherwise agreed for Collection Care Programme clients. Payment methods accepted: cash and bank transfer. Credit and debit card payment is not currently available at the workshop.

Refunds: If a service cannot be completed due to a movement or case condition identified after opening (for example, a discontinued part that cannot be sourced), the work will be suspended, the client notified, and the piece returned without charge for the incomplete portion. Labour time already spent on disassembly may be charged at a rate agreed with the client before proceeding.

Out-of-scope work approved by the client is added to the final invoice at the quoted rate. No part or labour is added without prior approval.

7. Service-Specific Terms

Battery, Seal and Water Resistance Renewal: The dry pressure test result is recorded and issued with the piece. Water resistance figures stated in the test note reflect the condition achieved on the day of testing. Balancewright does not warrant ongoing water resistance beyond the test date; resistance depends on how the watch is subsequently worn and stored.

Chronograph and Complication Service: The function checklist and rate sheet issued at collection record the condition of the movement at the time of service. Rate performance will vary with wear, temperature, and subsequent handling and is not warranted beyond the service date.

Collection Care Programme: The programme covers six or more mechanical pieces. Watches added mid-year are included on a pro-rated basis confirmed in writing. The programme price does not cover major repairs arising from damage, impact, or flooding; these are quoted separately. Programme renewal is required annually. Either party may end the programme with 30 days' written notice.

8. Disclaimers

Services are provided on the basis of the information available at the time of assessment. Balancewright does not represent that any service will achieve a specific outcome, extend the life of a movement by a stated period, or restore a piece to a manufacturer's original specification where parts are no longer available.

The website content is provided for information purposes. It does not constitute a warranty about any specific result for any specific watch.

9. Limitation of Liability

Balancewright's liability in relation to any service is limited to the price paid for that service. We are not liable for indirect, consequential or special losses including but not limited to loss of sentimental value, loss of use during the service period, or loss resulting from a pre-existing condition not disclosed at drop-off.

In the event of loss or accidental damage to a piece while in our custody, liability is limited to the assessed market value of the watch at the time of deposit. We maintain insurance for pieces held at the workshop; clients with pieces of high value are advised to disclose this at drop-off.

Force majeure: we are not liable for delays or failures caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control, including natural disasters, utility failures, or regulatory actions.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify Balancewright against any claim, loss or expense arising from your breach of these Terms and Conditions, including your submission of a piece that you do not have authority to submit for repair.

11. Termination

Either party may end a service arrangement before work commences. If work has already begun, the client is responsible for costs incurred to that point. Collection Care Programme arrangements may be ended with 30 days' written notice; a pro-rated refund for the unused portion of the annual fee will be issued.

Balancewright may decline to accept or continue a service if the piece is found to be outside current bench scope, or if the client has provided materially inaccurate information.

12. Dispute Resolution and Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Malaysia. Any dispute arising from a service arrangement will first be addressed through direct communication. If the matter is not resolved within 14 days of written notification to [email protected], either party may refer the matter to mediation through the Penang Regional Centre for Arbitration, or to the courts of Malaysia.

Consumer disputes may be referred to the Tribunal for Consumer Claims Malaysia (Tribunal Tuntutan Pengguna Malaysia) where the claim falls within the Tribunal's jurisdiction.

13. General Provisions

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time. The revised version will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Material changes will be communicated to active Collection Care Programme clients by email. Continued use of the website or engagement of our services after the updated terms are posted constitutes acceptance.
